I instantly think sailor when I see these shorts so you could pair them with a white button down with red or blue accents and a cute red sandal. Try not to be so literal with this. I would stay away from tops with bows or ties around your neck to avoid looking like you’re wearing a costume. Use patriotic colors to achieve a sailor inspired look. You could also do something completely different and wear them with a white tank and a blazer or denim vest. Either one would be cute. I’m partial to more costume-inspired dressing so sailor is my preference lol. Kill it doll!
Try pairing them with a top thats bright color like red, fuchsia, or turquoise. Or maybe something simple like a white tank top with a great chunky necklace that has plenty of color and gems encrusted on it. Add a cute sandal or purple pump and you’ll look sickening!! Stay chic!!
I’m very familiar with your body type. My mother is a size 4 with DDs so I completely understand the need to cover the twins. I would suggest a printed silk sundress with either a halter or strapless neckline (if you have a good bra) and boning or an empire waist like this. The boning/empire waist will give your dress more structure and make it look more formal but because it’s a sundress it won’t be be too formal for the beach. Department stores, NY&Company & the like are great stores to find pieces like this. Be sure to shop in the women’s section because they will have a larger variety of dresses with fuller tops. Something with a flirty tail or a flowy fabric is also great because it has a beachy feel. This dress is a great example minus the color. I hope this helped! Kill it doll.
I think you should definitely do something easy, chic, and cool. Beach weddings seem so laid back and you can easily pull that look off but just add a little umph to it. Here are a few styles I think will work well not just for the occasion but your body type. Style #1, style #2, style #3, and style #4. Hopefully one of those work for you and please submit to BGKI showing us how you killed it in Aruba. Stay chic!!
I think a dress would be a good choice. Something that is comfortable but cute so that you can head to dinner or for a night on the town after graduation. Something like this or this would be cute with a pair of heels and simple jewelry. Throw a clutch in your car for later that night & you’ll be good to go. Kill it doll!
Here is a set that I did for an earlier graduation inquiry.
Just like Dani said, a dress would be your best option, it allows you to have multiple options with minimal changes Congrats!!!
If you want to wear your skirt I think a coral halter tucked into your skirt would look cute with some statement earrings & a cute bracelet, skip the necklace because you won’t be able to see it under your robe. A black silk tank with a sequin vest and a pencil skirt/slacks would also look cute or a monochrome look. All black is seamless and classic but makes a statement and looks effortlessly chic with statement jewelry. Congrats on graduating! Kill it doll!
I think you’ll be able to pull it off as long as everything else is simple. For instance stick with a black out toe shoe, something really sexy yet sophisticated because you’re wearing sequin and that alone with have all eyes on you. Stay chic!!
I agree with Tima, everything else should most def be simple. How long is the dress? For me, the length would be the deciding factor on if it is appropriate or not. The shorter the dress is, the more simple and classic shoe I would suggest. The dress is already a big statement with the sequins, and the way the top is cut, adds even more dramatic effect. If you can, submit a pic of the dress; I don’t know how I feel about a blazer. Not confirming, or denying. If the dress is more of a party dress, short and fitted, I would suggest wearing something else to the ceremony.
You don’t want to ruin lives, don’t wear that dress.
That dress is gorgeous. It will definitely fit a hour glass figure of any size. I would wear small chandelier earrings, a tennis bracelet (or faux tennis bracelet), and a small sparkly clutch. I love bling so I would definitely play up the bling in the dress. As for makeup I would wear neutral eyes, flawless foundation, pink cheeks, and a neutral eye with a pop of silver under the eye and a pink lip. Have fun! Kill it doll!
WOW!! Youre going to look phenomenal girl!! That dress is bomb, I love it, and yes youre going to pull it off and then some with your shape, skin tone, and that beautiful turquoise. For jewelry I agree with the options Danni, keep it minimal because the dress does have so much bling. For shoes I’d do sliver or gold because both go well with turquoise and for make up a nice neutral eye, a rosy blush, and a hot pink lip try MAC’s Girl About Town. Stay chic!!
I’m in love with box braids and love seeing women sporting them so I say do a little more research and see where you can find someone in your area who will understand the look youre going for. There are a few black hair care forums that might be able to point you in the right direction. Stay chic!!
Poetic Justice braids.
When I was younger we called them doodoo braids (horrid I know). Other than that box braids and Poetic Justice braids are the only names I’ve heard. Kill it doll!
Sorry I just had to come back and say I love Poetic Justice!!! Classic gangsta love story lol. Stay chic!!
Black shoes!! I’ve had to do it too lol. Stay chic!!
Get taller. More than likely you’re still growing so give it a couple more years and the increased distance between your head and your feet will make them look smaller.
I say drop the belt and if possible tie the top in the little knot in the front of some spice. Other than that it sounds like a great fit so submit pictures and show us how you killed it!! Stay chic!!
I love maxi dresses. They look great with vests, fedoras, gladiators, and chunky necklaces. If you’re a little chilly throw an off-shoulder crochet sweater over it for a little added warmth. Kill it doll!
Thanks hun!! When wearing maxi dresses thats usually the focal point of the outfit but a great way to add some umph would be to add a jacket like a blazer or a denim jacket. You can also try a cardigan. Sometimes I like to tie a knot on one side of my maxi dresses and make it a-symmetrical to just revamp it and make it a brand new dress. Stay chic!!
Try adding some cute accessories like chunky necklaces and fedoras. I also think it would be cute to add a denim vest or jacket and gladiators go great with maxi dresses. Kill it doll!
How about just rocking it with a pair of leggings and cute sandals or riding boots instead of the sandals. Thats pretty casual. Stay chic!!
Try a pair of cut off denim shorts or distressed boyfriend jeans. I would go for pearl accessories, or and oversized chain and big hoops. As for the shoe, keep it flat; either a sandal, or a ballet flat.
I think high-waist denim shorts, or cotton khaki shorts wedges, gladiators and a tan fedora would be cute. Kill it doll!
We’ve some great ideas in our KIY section so take a quick look and see if you get any inspiration. There are plenty of awesome things you can do with those tee’s like make them into crop tops and you can use your fabric to make turbans or bandeu tops. Stay chic!!
Hi I’m filming a video for this so look out for it!
Thanks so much hun!! We appreciate every single follower. Also congrats on graduating!! We seem to be getting this question quite a bit so I’ve selected a few styles I think might help everyone when it comes to finding the right dress for graduation thats appropriate yet eye catching. Style #1, style #2, and style #3. They may seem a bit risky but I say throw caution to the wind because you’ve worked your butt off to get where you’re at!! Stay chic!!
