Black Girl Killing It Feature - #4 - blackblonde

How would you define your personal style?

My personal style always varies it’s eclectic because I try so many different looks. Overall, I always have an 80’s vintage look, but I try to mimic 50’s-60’s…

Do you find that you follow fashion trends or you play by your own rules?

Half and half. I mostly do what I love, if  I see something that I want I’ll get it no matter if it’s trendy or not but I do get inspiration from fashion magazines.

Are there any colours that you tend to shy away from, and if so why?

Definitely red, even though it’s probably the most fashionable colour, I can’t stand it. However I can do Hot Pink…

As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?

My mom was into fashion so she always dressed me in the latest but I didn’t really develop a strong fashion sense until middle school, 8/9th grade to be exact.

How does your day to day life factor into your wardrobe choices?

Depends on my mood and the weather, some days I may feel bossy so I dress up and some days I just feel like chilling and I do this thing I call bummy swag, with some baggy jeans and a graphic tee.

Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?

There are so many I’m gonna go with the classics Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Galliano, Dior, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier and Jean de Castelbajac. Some newer/graduate designers from 2010 that I like are Holly Fulton, Laquan Smith, Mark Fast and Ellery. There are probably so many more but these are all I remember.

Your five must-haves as a girl:

  • Bold Lipstick
  • An attractive perfume
  • Cool Shades
  • Signature Blazer
  • 6inch pumps
