Black Girl Killing It Feature #2 - conflictedconscience

How would you define your personal style?

My personal style can’t really be defined because I wear clothes according to what inspire me that day, whether something bohemian and androgynous to cute and chic. I guess you can say my style is inconsistent.

Do you find that you follow fashion trends or do you play by your own rules?

I am influenced by fashion trends but at the same time I know what I like and looks good on me. So I definately try to incorporate both.

Are there any colours you tend to shy away from and if so why?

Not really. I wear whatever colour I please.

As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?

I could care less about clothes when I was young.  I was a huge tom boy when I was young and my mom would dress me and my brother alike.  She would constantly keep me in the freshest of Jordans and I would run around and scuff them all up.  So yes, I grew into my fashion sense.  I’m actually a late bloomer, I didn’t develop a keen interest in fashion til my senior year in high school.

How does your day to day life factor into your wardrobe choices?

I find myself wearing outfits conjured up in my head that look great but inappropriate for the places I usually go.  I don’t think there is a place in the suburbs where its appropriate to dress as I do.  I don’t want to be confined within my society’s walls So my day to day life plays little into my outfit choice each day.

Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?

Not yet I have not reached that level of awesomeness to appreciate any particular designers work.

Your five must-haves as a girl:
