Nifesimi tells BGKI about her style inspiration…
How would you define your personal style?
My style is daring and ever-evolving.
Do you find that you follow fashion trends, or do you play by your own rules?
I follow certain fashion trends but I always add my own twist to whatever I wear.
Are there any colors you tend to shy away from, and if so why?
I am open to try any and all colors. I think variety is the spice of life.
When you hear the term “Black Girl Killing It” what comes to mind?
I think of talented black woman making a difference, and standing out, in whatever she decides to do.
Do you accept anyone’s critique or are you confident in your style choices?
Although I’m very confident in my style, welcome critiques. Nobody is perfect and I believe that there is always an opportunity to learn and see our self from the eyes of another.
As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?
As a child, I was a tomboy who didn’t care for clothes or fashion. I would definitely say I grew into my fashion sense.
Do you participate in your local fashion scene?
There are few events and activities in fashion where I am but I try to get involved when one opportunity presents itself.
How does your day to day life factor into your wardrobe choices?
I dress according to my mood. Other times, I factor in the activities and functions I would be attending for that day.
What is your greatest fashion pet peeve?
I can’t stand seeing panty lines, chipped nail polish and I don’t care much for men sagging their trousers below the waistline.
What is your favourite trend right now?
Currently, my favorite trend has to be midi skirts with high splits.
Have you ever tried your hand at design or sewing?
I have designed a number of my outfits and I’m really considering learning how to sew.
Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?
I love wearing Max Azria. The fits are perfect for my body type, not to mention that the styles are always chic and refreshing with plenty of femininity in every piece.
Your five must-haves as a girl:
