Kim King tells BGKI about her style…

How would you define your personal style?

Classy, easy going, and very girly

Do you find that you follow fashion trends, or do you play by your own rules?

Both. I do follow fashion trends, but I mainly go for the ‘must-have’ items. I take those items create my own style with them.

Are there any colors you tend to shy away from, and if so why?

LOL, I love all colors(maybe it’s the Jamaican in me), but what I do is make sure that the colors that I wear all compliment one another.

When you hear the term “Black Girl Killing It” what comes to mind?

When I hear it I think of strength, independence, having a mind of your own, being a go-getter, and also being stylish.

Do you accept anyone’s critique or are you confident in your style choices?

I’m confident in my style choices. I take time to put my outfits together and I would not leave my house if I didn’t feel good about what I had on.

As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?

I would have to say that I’ve always been into clothes. I would always put outfits together with my mother’s clothes and heels.

Do you participate in your local fashion scene?

No, I don’t.

How does your day to day life factor into your wardrobe choices?

Whatever I’m doing, I always make sure that I’m cute and comfortable.

What is your greatest fashion pet peeve?

Trends go as quickly as they come in

What is your favorite trend right now?

Chunky heels and loose fitting tops

Have you ever tried your hand at design or sewing?

Yes, I do. I own a sewing machine and when I get inspired, I just go with it and create.

Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?

I’m not the type of girl that goes for designer clothing. I really go for things that stand out to me.
